(fixed)Generating locs from ECoS

Postby smitt48 » 15.08.2017, 18:46

Hi

I tried a new feature on my WinXP, I saw in the wiki that you can download the loc descriptions into Rocrail from the ECoS. I saw the entries in the Controller Viewer, but the locs did not get loaded in the tables.
http://wiki.rocrail.net/doku.php?id=ecos-en#locomotives

The hint says
Starting with revision 10094 a loco will be created if needed.

So I guess I need training, because I can't find them!

Thanks Tom

Hi Tom,

please attach the usual files...

I saw in the wiki that you can download the loc descriptions into Rocrail from the ECoS.

There is no such a line in the Wiki.
If a Loco in Rocrail(master) does not exist in the Ecos(slave) it will be created on the fly. (In the Ecos...)
Best Regards, Rob.

Hi Rob,

Here are the files (sorry, were generated on another computer  )

Wiki quote:
Starting with revision 10094 a loco will be created if needed.

I read that as "if a locomotive is in the ECoS and not in Rocrail you can download them in Rocrail". The other way would not make much sense. I have no idea what needs to happen in the ECoS when "mechanically" adding a loc.
In the Rocrail properties I checked "Locomotive" and the trace shows they are coming down the pipeline. After that I do not know where they are supposed to go, I assumed the loc table.

20170815.131946.640 r9999c tid0x041 OECoS 1367 mapping Rocrail id=["BR 221 (B&C)"] with Ecos oid=[1007]

Hi Tom,

I just implemented it equal to the Bind option in the MCS2.
The Bind option does not have effect because the import is always done.
The new locos are generated and will be removed from the table at shutdown. If you want to keep them you must remove the generated flag in the loco options.
Best Regards, Rob.

Hi Tom,

I also evaluate the decoder protocol, but I do not know what NMFKT is. (MFX?)

Hi Rob,

I will ask in the ESU Forum.

MMFKT could mean MFX, but ESU always calls it M4, due to legal ramifications.

Maybe a little off topic, but:
If you want to keep them you must remove the generated flag in the loco options.

Where can i find this flag?

Bert

this flag will be set to false after opening the Loco properties and Apply or OK.
I added a line in the Wiki: http://wiki.rocrail.net/doku.php?id=roc ... rated_loco

Thanks, I looked yesterday twice on the loco tabs  . Didn't saw the checkbox, generated a loco same result  . Your answer saves a trip to the optician. :P

Hi Rob,

ESU Forum member response:
das Format MMFKT dient zur Steuerung von MM1-Funktionsmodellen.
Beispiele: 4999 (Aussichtswagen), 4998 (Gesellschaftswagen) oder 49960 (Messwagen)

I will test the ECoS loc download functionality today, I will let you know how it works.

Thanks Tom

Hi Rob,

I know how it works, and I have an Ecos for testing too.

But you (should) know there is a difference between a software developer testing and user testing!

In the trace many more locomotives are shown than that were added. I would say about 50%.
In what version will the flag show, in version 12571 I did not detect a flag.

Thanks Tom

Hi Rob,

20170817.083154.219 r9999I 00001A14 OModel 4731 discover mfx loco with addr=0 lc=0
20170817.083154.219 r9999c tid0x058 OECoS 1368 mapping Rocrail id=["Dm3 Sweden"] with Ecos oid=[1011] addr=[0] protocol=[MFX]

Can you load those locs anyway, if they are MFX? Locs are controlled Rocrail -> ECoS by name not address.

Thanks Tom
