Sprog READ TIMEOUT sometimes

Postby ClaudeF » 09.12.2015, 16:21

Hi all !

Sometimes in one of our layouts, we see periodically "read timeout" error. Everything is working except out SPROG interface that become very slow to apply command.
We see this in the trace :
Code: Select all
20151116.155859.878 r9999E tid0x600 OSerial  0685 ***READ TIMEOUT*** size=3 rc=0 read=0 errno=0 tries=100

20151116.155903.016 r9999E tid0x600 OSerial  0685 ***READ TIMEOUT*** size=3 rc=0 read=0 errno=0 tries=100
20151116.155903.240 r9999c hsi88fb  OHSI88   0392 sensor 42 is OFF; report
20151116.155904.063 r9999E tid0x600 OSerial  0685 ***READ TIMEOUT*** size=3 rc=0 read=0 errno=0 tries=100
20151116.155905.103 r9999E tid0x600 OSerial  0685 ***READ TIMEOUT*** size=3 rc=0 read=0 errno=0 tries=100

Apparently, we got error message when we send order through the SPROG.

Any idea of why this is happening ? Thanks !

Hi,

both hardware components, hsi88 & sprog, are not really suited for layouts bigger then a starter set.

maybe the Sprog has a defect.
It should respond after each command.

you can increase the timeout directly in the rocrail.ini:

Code: Select all
<digint iid="sprog-1" lib="sprog" device="/dev/tty.usbmodem1411" timeout="1000" restricted="false" stress="false" libpath=".."/>

increase the timeout value to 5000 for example.

Hi Rob !

Thank you for your quick answers ! We will first check our SPROG, and if needed, we will increase the timeout.

Hi,

if you need to increase the timeout its obviously that the Sprog cannot handle your layout and will delay commands...

Our SPROG doesn't handle the whole layout, it is only used for the switches (less than 30 turnouts). The SPROG can easy handle few accessories... And in other layouts (with the same amount of switches) there is no problem with the SPROG.

We will replace the current SPROG and see what happens...
