Installation of SPROG...

Postby xtof » 04.11.2010, 23:41

I've installed the SPROG, the drivers of the SPROG, RocRail and start the configuration of ROCRAIL.

The SPROG is correctly connected and installed: I've tried it with DecoderPro on COM3 without any problem.

Unfortunately, when I try to run a loc with RocRail, I receive error messages (e.g. time out message).

It was just for test. I don't have a plan defined. Should I have a plan before I can run a loc?

I've attached a zip file with the latest trace of RocRail and with my configuration files.

Any help will be much appreciated!

Regards,

Christophe

Hi Cristophe,

Without a plan Rocrail does not know that your loc exist and what its decoder address is. Anything that you want to control with Rocrail must de defined before with the correct address.

Dear Ron & Bram,

Thanks for your answer. Hartelijk bedankt!

I will define an elementary layout and try further.

I'll come back with the result!

Kind regards,

Christophe

I've made a simple circle as track (nothing more).

The sprog is defined as COM3.

I've first try with a long adress loc. It doesn't work, even id DCC NMRA Long is choosen.

With the programming frame, i've set a new adress (76 & DCC NMRA). It was a success.

But I was unable to move the loc.

What should I do?

I'm still blocked.

The Sporg is connected to my PC and runs well with e.g. Decoder Pro / panel Pro.

The track plan is a simple circle. One loc is defined.

When I set the power ON, I receive this message several time on the server trace:
"Timeout on serial read[COM3] 0 of 3 read.[rc=0] tries=3"

Sometimes a receive also "Invalid key" message.

The leds of the SPROG doesn't flash.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Christophe

Hi,

are you sure sprog is connected to COM3?

Yes, I can run a loc on COM3 with a throttle within PanelPro.

Its a long time back that I implemented the sprog library.
It worked for me and for other users too. Those other users should help you with this issue because I do not want invest time in something working.

Could it be that the sprog is setup with other then the factory settings after using your other programs?

Thanks!

i've reinstalled all the soft, plus re-change de adress of the loc to a 2-digit adress.

And now, it works...

I've created 2 locs, one with 2 and one with 4 digits adress (defined as long asress).

When I put power on RocRail, it crashed all: The SPROG is blocked and should be powered off and on again to restart, as RocRail.

So, I think that for one or another reason RocRail do not accept sending 4 digit adresses to the SPROG.

OK, let's go further, and once again, thanks for your help.

Hi,

reporting a crash without a trace file is not very helpful.

Your serial port reports there is something to read but times out on reading it.
Check for a valid device driver to use with your virtual COM port.

All the drivers are from the latest version.

What should I do?
