[SolvedCannot program locos, cannot operate points via DAC10

Postby 96701 » 09.01.2013, 22:42

My son has provided me with a CBus DCC Command Station with CBUS Interface and a USB Interface (CAN-USB). I've got Rocrail running, and can move locos, switch the lights on and off (also with my iPhone), but cannot program a loco, nor operate any points with my DAC10. I have no idea which 'boxes' to tick in Rocrail to get to where I want to be - can somebody give this idiot a guide?

I'll post the rocrail.ini plan file and the trace file if someone could please tell me what and where they are.

Hi,

I do not know the DAC10, but the CAN-GC3 only support Mobile decoders:
http://wiki.rocrail.net/doku.php?id=can-gc3-en#features
So DCC accessory decoders to control points can not be addressed by the CAN-GC3.

For controlling accessories with CBUS you need CAN-GC2 or CAN-GC6 for servos.

Connector 1 can be used for programming mobile decoders:
http://wiki.rocrail.net/doku.php?id=can ... ctors_leds
if the programming switch 3 is in the right position.
Best Regards, Rob.

Rob,

Thanks for your reply, but I'm using the MERG Command Station with CBUS Interface, not the CAN_GC3. The DAC10 is by CML Electronics and the manual states that to change a CV to follow the "paged mode service mode programming instructions for your command station." I can find no reference to this in the Rocrail Wiki, only MADA, PADA and FADA, so I'd really appreciate it if you could give me a bit more guidance.

Regards,
Phil Bancroft

Phil,

decoder programming has nothing to do with point addressing.
You have to check the Merg CS which mode it can handle to program cv's.
For CBUS & Rocrail Page mode is default.

Thanks Rob.

Some learning curves are just too steep. Thanks for flattening it out a little, I'm sure I'll be back.

Have got as far as installing MERG CANACC5 nodes and getting the points to move! Onward and upward!
