Solved - LocoIO Problems

Postby Liviu M » 02.11.2015, 22:34

Hello Rob,

As you probably know, I'm using the LocoIO to program the new RFID interfaces I'm playing with.
I think I found some problems with the LocoIO on my openSuse system.
1. This is complicated. I have two "test systems" - raspberry (server) + openSuse (client) and openSuse (server & client).
Using first system to program my rfid2wifi module, all is working as expected - the port address is changed and shown OK in the LocoIO window.
Using the second system, the port programming is OK, the sensor reports are OK, but the port address readback in the LocoIO window is "shifted" to the next even address. If, for example I'm programming the address 20 or 21, the sensor event is reported with the programmed address, but the address shown in the LocoIO window is 22.
As said, using the Raspberry as server is all OK, but installing the same revision on the Suse system doesn't fix the problem. The biggest difference between the two systems is the "word width" - the openSuse is the 64 bit version.
2. This is easier. Because of the first problem I've tried to update the Rocrail version on the openSuse system.
With the last version, the LocoIO stops to respond (only the address query function is working). To leave the LocoIO window I should close the Rocview (actually I'm closing the server, which is closing the Rocview). I have this behavior with both systems - Raspi & Suse.
Git history is showing updates to wx3.1 & on locoio module. Should I update something on my system?

I'll try to generate the needed files tomorrow. Should I activate special traces modes?

I hope I wasn't to confuse!

Regards,
Liviu

Hi Liviu,

the second issue I could fix.

For the first issue I need a GCA50 which Peter will send me this week.
Best Regards, Rob.

Hello Rob,

Unfortunately it doesn't work. Excepting the General and Address tabs, no other button functions. I can change the displayed functions (address, input/output...), but pressing the buttons (Set, Get...) has no effect (actually the Help and OK buttons are working).

Sorry for bothering you,
Liviu

Hello Rob,

I'm again.
As said, the first problem still there, but after compiling an older version to get rid of it
Code: Select all
git checkout 614ae9b4948ed211ae7a8ac2effc3ee454a219a9

the second problem (the one with wrong displaying of the addresses) is gone. :) At least in the first tests.

Hi Liviu,

I reverted the LocoIO Dialog port usage as requested by Peter.
It seems that it corrupted the dialog.
Best Regards, Rob.

Hi Rob,

if you want to implement new features, go on. I can live with a (few days) older version until you fix it. More than that, if you need it, I can help you testing.

I reverted the changes as I wrote in my previous posting.
So everything should be Okay now.
Best Regards, Rob.

Hi Rob,

yes, I've understood that you have reverted the changes.
What I'm trying to say is, if you do need these changes, don't revert them just because of me. I can wait until you fix the problems and I can help you to test/debug them.

Whatever you decide is OK for me.

Hi Liviu,

I extended the LocoIO dialog again and with my test setup, gca101 + gca50, its all OK.
You can also do some testing if you like.
Best Regards, Rob.
