Hi Rob,

until 6 am the users increased, later it looked ok with 15 guests.
08:27
What happened betweet 5:51 am and 8:27 am? Any reset?

Obviously the # of guest users increases steadily since 8:27
09:37
The session length is not the key from my point of view, because in this case also the amount of registered users shall increase significant if there is something going wrong.

Hi Rob,

when i take a look on the sub-forums eg EN DE NL IT FR, actually there are only 0-4 guests reported. Maybe a misinterpretation because i do not know how this figures are measured in phpBB.

In the total view i can see actual 263 guests, but this is a summary of the last minute. calculated about 4 guests per second.
This does not match to the reported figures i can see in the sub-forums.

Do you have access to a more detailed reporting in the phpBB Environment?

Hi Peter,

I'm Forum Admin, but I do not like to change much; It runs for years.

Maybe I should upgrade the phpBB, but this is not easy...

For information, from the beginning I never had the problem and the number of users was normal. The accounting must be done by forum.

Hi Rob,

I just had the problem while the number of users was not important: 4 guests + me. On the other hand I realized that the time displayed for my message is not at the good hour, that can explain the problems of connection.

Regards,
Jean-Paul

Hi Jean-Paul,

You have to change the forum time yourself (twice a year).

Hi Claus,

me too, but I have only one solution: Close it for Guests...
I did hope PHP 7 would keep them out.

Hi Claus,

I just did disable the Bing and Google bots. Maybe it helps.

Hi,

that does not help.

- I did upgrade the Forum to the latest version.
- I did set the PHP on the provider server to the latest stable PHP 7 version.
- I did test with Cloudflare

It seems, I do not have a solution to reduce the number of guest connections.
Any suggestion is welcome.

Hi Tom,

I also had this error, and I reported it to my provider.
This error ist not the same as the "too many connections".
But it seems to work again.
