Better GUI for turntable

Post by lgrfbs » 15.08.2018, 18:22

So here the out of Rocrail 2.0 -13999:
rocrail-now20180815a.png
How is looking now
I wish it would look like this instead:
rocrail-now20180815b.png
minus the grid.
Put in the grid and the light blue color to clarify which lines I want to update so that they go all the way to the light-blue square.
I think it would be nicer layout on turntable graphic design in this way.

Hi,

do not forget to update Rocrail before reporting an issue.

Your proposal would fit in your layout, but would probably not fit in other layouts.

The only I wanted was that the line that shows the tracks connected to the turntable as it is now ending at the turntable's circle line should continue right out to the edge of the square surface that the turntable´s graphics take up on the map.

I didn't see this as a issue but more as a desire/idea on GUI upgrade.

Hi Rob,

 i would like this style with lines to the rectangle border.

Looks more informative as actual with space between TT and tracks:

Hi Peter,

OK, but I would replace the dashed circle with a dashed rectangle.

Hi Rob,

fine, a rectangle fits a lot better into the schematic layout because any other track symbol is also aligned in a rectangle...

Hi Peter,

this is how it looks like with a rectangle:
tt-rendering.png
But the TT tracks will not 100% fit with the surrounding tracks.
Maybe a 2 or 3 pixel solid rectangle could camouflage it.
But with the current Rocview representation its impossible to use all 48 TT tracks to connect to surrounding tracks. But if you increase the size of the TT it could be possible.

I like your (rjversluis) first images, but the second images is perfectly okay too.

Hi Rob,

the second Form is IMHO better, because it the adapting function between the circle tt and the rectangle Plan grid represented.

Hi,

looks perferct now from my point of view for smaller layouts:
DS-neu.PNG
DS-neu2.PNG
But for very large layouts e.g. Hamburg Altona with max size of 13 for the turntable object and using all possible tt positions, the alignment to the tracks is not possible:
DS-neu3.PNG
In the marked area you can see 6 tracks both on tt and external connections, but the position does not match in the area between.

Hi Rob,

It is maybe better to have 2 (square and round) the square one for small turntables and the round one (as default).
