Hello Tobbe,

a non-legacy com port ? I have to know that ? :-) It comes 2 new com-ports into with a new PCI-card. The numbers i can change....3+4 or 5+6....but thats nor the problem i think.

In Windows looks all ok with that ports...i cant see any problems....
How can i change that to work ??
Oh...and i have the same problem if i use ComPort 1...the first and normal ComPort of that PC....

Much thx and greetings , Frank

Hi,

can you check the DTR voltage after starting the Rocrail server.
It must be high for the HSI88 to communicate.
Best Regards, Rob.

Hi Rob...
yes i can....and i do it :-)
On all comports...1 and the new ports, i dont have a high befor i start rocrail. After start it change to +12 on all ports(only that what is openend from Rocrail). So i mean rocrail works fine. And i mean the program can see the HSI88, that write the version number...1.2.0 or so.
But after that i see that warning: CTF timeout...."Could not send init sequence"

:-(

Hi Frank,

can you test the HSI88 with other software on the same hardware?
JMRI or a trial version of TC or Koploper if you can deal with Dutch...
Best Regards, Rob.

Hi Frank,

the "Koploper" program is in Dutch only. ;-)

But the TC trial should do the job to confirm if it is a hardware or software problem.
Best Regards, Rob.

Hello again...
now i install the new TC7.0....(by that way...i dont like it....so a slow speed for a new program?)...and have also no connection to my HSI88...
I mean the red LED must blink if the software start for a transfer from data...nothing.
Much work and stress for a demaged HSI....fine :-(

But much thx to your replays and ideas ! Without that i sit now on my PC and test , and test, and test :-)

Greetings, Frank

Hello to all...

today i receive back my HSI88...and connect it to the PC. ...and have the same problem as like befor :-(
The HSI works fine....also the com-port 1 (seriel at that pc) ...only my new PCI-card with 2 new com-ports dont work. In the system is all ok...says the system status but i connect the Intellibox at that com2 and after the hsi at the same.....the comport dont work.

Somebody a idea ? Maybe i need a specialy driver ??

See the trace files...one with HSi on com1....next with hsi on com2

Greets, Frank

Hi Frank,

Since both the IB and the HSI88 themselves appear to be working when connected to com1, I somehow fear that the pci card with the additional 2 com ports is giving trouble. You might want to check the settings of the com ports on the card:
For WinXP go to start, configuration, system, hardware, devicemanager. Expand the port(com&lpt) entry by clicking on the plus, double click one of the com ports on the pci card, select the tab the most on the right (translating from dutch Winxp, resources?), remove the tick before use automatic settings and see if you can get settings for "normal" comports from the "settings based on" pull down list, I/O would be 03f8-03ff for com 1 (but that is already in use), 02f8-02ff, 03e8-03ef or 02e8-02ef for "normal" com ports. Make sure that there are no conflicts when changing these settings (Winxp will show conflicts in the bottom window).

Ronald

Hi Ronald,
thx for ur replay. Thats exact what i test, but i cant change the recources :-( The automatic is on and in gray...i cant remove that.
Now i change the pci-port and have com3 & 4, but the recources is the same: Interrupt 17 and A800-A807 for com3 and A400-A407 for com4.

Can i change some in the windows system to change that recources by myself ??

Have a nice sunday, Frank

Hi Frank,

It may be that a) you need administrator rights or b) the pci card does not allow changing it.

What you could try, but I am not sure that it is supported by the HSI88 code is to open rocrail.ini with wordpad (NOT with notepad), find the line starting with <digint and containing lib="hsi88". Add the following somewhere in that line (with spaces around it ofcourse):
portbase="0xABCD" where ABCD is the hex number you saw for the port the hsi is connected in the device properties (A800 for com3?). The serial driver in Rocrail, when the value of portbase is 0 (deafult) takes the standard I/O address for a com port.

Best regards,
Ronald

...and i test it with: portbase="0xA800-A807"
