Rocrail interface with OpenDCC using P50XA

Post by peter_moulin » 29.03.2012, 09:33

Hello everybody,

I have finalised Maerklin Motorola format on OpenDCC thanks to Wolfgang strong support.
To use it and send to the rail a command to a loco with the proper format I use the LOCADD ( add Locomotive to data base) or LS to store the format in OpenDCC loco data base.
Is there a way to use those P50XA (ASCII) command via RocRail.

According to what I have detected with portmon, RocRail speaks P50X binary, not ASCII and the Locadd does not exist in binary only in ascii.
I could try XLokCfgSet (0x86) , if only I knew how to send it to OpenDCC.

Looking forward to your help,

Pierre

Hi Pierre,

you must selcet the opendcc library with sub-library p50x.
P50xa is used for the locadd commands.

.
Hi,

I will do it with pleasure, but where do I select the library? Is it in Rocrail Properties, menu Library path ? How do I select a sub-library ?
Where do I see after that the proper and available command?

Thanks for answer

Pierre

All is documented in the Rocrail Wiki:

hello rjversluis

Of course before asking I have checked the wiki for OpenDCC. More than that I have myself done a complete translation of the OpenDCC "Handbusch"" and contributed to some english pages on the web.

What I can see:
>All the Recommended Links, link to OpenDCC web-site, where I can't find the answer to my question.
> Special Features, Programming OpenDCC SO's by dialog. There is no link

So, the only way I can see is entering LOCO values in the data base via SO.

May be my question was not well formulated, I try again:

Is there a way, from Rocview, different from CV programming, to dialog with the OpenDCC be in P50XA or binary.

Sorry to insist

Regards
Pierre

Hi,

The confusion is probably coming from the distinction between P50XA ascii et P50X binary.

In OpenDCC dialog you can select P50X or xpressnet, nut not P50XA Ascii as far as I can see. The P50x is binary. there is no locadd in binary, only in ASCII and I don't see where I can select it.

Anybody to confirm ?

Pierre

As I wrote before:

P50xa is used for the locadd commands.
The P50xa is used as needed; Just select p50x.

which means that there is no answer to my very first question: "How do I send a LOCADD command to OpenDCC using RocView?"

No where in the interface you can see the proper menu.
Where in TrainController, with Tams there is a menu for database management.

Do you know if such a menu is available for Tams under RocRail (Wolfgang Kufer believe it is?).
If yes will it be possible to implement it for OpenDCC.
