Solved: OpenDCC Hardware and rocrail

Post by 73funki » 06.07.2012, 10:21

Hallo Boarders!

A simple and stupid question from an openDCC beginner: Is it possible to use only the booster 2 with rocrail or must I have a Z1 as central part of opendcc?

Excuse me, but I didn't find any overview for openDCC!

Thanks!

Hello Peter

Booster2 need DCC signal input. It should work if you connect to your Lenz or other DCC station which is driven by Rocrail.

For overview how to connect booster2 see:

Thanks a lot, Hans Peter!

I missed this overview, not scrolling to bottom :o
The Z1 really seems to be a must!

I'll try the soldering during summer, having some free time at work!

Hi Peter,

the "Booster 2" works also with the Rocrail DDX or DCC232.
For a small or medium layout with a handfull or some more loco's is it a fine business. (ufb for a ham  )
May be, You need to reduce the value of resistor R1 from 2,2kΩ to 1,2kΩ.
It depends from the value of the source voltage of the com port.

So the Z1 is a nice unit, but not serious necessary.

Best Regards

Oh god!

Rainer: your answer wasn't good :o
...because I chenaged my order from a booster2 to a Z1!

By the way: I'll try now the Z1 with about 1A output. That means 2 locos fot testing with TT!

Have a nice weekend, Rainer! 73! :?

Hello Peter,

it was the right decision to get the Z1!
