In automatic mode you can add signals to blocks:

But if you are running trains manually you can use actions.

This is exactly what I want to do, use sensors to set signals when running trains manually.

Suppose I have sensor fb1 which is a track occupancy detector, and signal sg1 which controls access to this block.

I create an action like set-sg1-green which sets signal sg1 to green, and another action set-sg1-red which sets signal sg1 to red.
Then I assign those actions to sensor fb1 so that if fb1 state is true (occupied) action set-sg1-red is called and if fb state is false (free) action set-sg1-green is called.

This works, and I can see it is a very powerful facility, is this the right way to do this?

Also using this method, to allow for distant signals, suppose fb2 was the next block along, I create an action like set-sg1-yellow and add another action to sensor fb1 so that if fb1 state false (free) then call action set-sg1-yellow if condition sensor fb2 (false)

Again, this works, but I just want to check I am on the right "track"! :-)

Thanks, Dave
