User Library

Post by Elvar » 26.04.2019, 19:39

Hi Rob,
Since the forum for this subject has disappeared (or I am blind...) I ask the question here: Why has access to the sources again stopped? Last time I updated from gitlab was on Jan 22th. Now the rocail project cannot be find any more.

My Gitlab username: emey05

Thanks for answers,
E.

Hi, E.,

sorry, but source access is only available to Moderators and Developers.

So, I am a developer. I´ve developed my own command station (on an old Uno) with its own software compiled into rocrail. I did this for many years now and I had access to the sources (most of the time at least). I´m experimenting with BiDiB and need to do testing in rocrail´s bidib-module (mostly much more trace output). And I want to know how rocrails works. I am an IT professional and I know what I´m doing. I had chosen rocrail because it was open source. I definitely don´t want to switch to JMRI (the only open source system know as far as I know) for my next project.

Greetings,
Eckart

Rocrail is since 2015 no longer Open Source.
Use JMRI if you are looking for Software with GPL Licence.
This licence is good for thieves, but sucking for authors.
There are some forks of Rocrail before 2015 at GitHub. Some did rename the project and act as the source code belongs to them.
I tried to get rid of those forks, but as I already mentioned: "This licence is good for thieves, but sucking for authors."
I need a lawyer to get this done, but I do not have lawyer money.
I had chosen rocrail because it was open source.
was in the past.

User libraries should communicate this way:

I am an IT professional and I know what I´m doing.

With Developer access I meant me and one or more other Rocrail contributors.
