Inhibit (lock) Switches with xml script.

Post by Blackpixel83 » 26.10.2015, 20:10

hi guys,

Do you see a way to make a turnout "not usable" on a panel, if a button is pressed or not.
Do you copy me ? :)

Christophe.

Hi Christophe,

You can probably "lock" the switch, then you cannot use it again.

Hi,

Sure, write some XML (or actions) for lock and un-lock.

Hi Tom,

Really sure? I didn't found a "lock" command for switches.

The option is not present in the Action definition pane, but it is possible with a script.

I'll take a look at it !

Hi Gerd,
xml.PNG
I saw it here, I wrongly thought that if the option is available in XML, it would also be available in Actions. :oops:
I assumed that XML was a "easier" way of creating actions.

I can't figure out how to set the state !

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<xmlscript>
<sw id="SW-425-CTC" state="locked"/>
</xmlscript>

nor

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<xmlscript>
<sw id="SW-425-CTC" cmd="locked"/>
</xmlscript>

worked !

Not shure it is supported.

I just want to be able to prevent users to use some turnout at some times !

Hi Christophe,

I have no idea what you mean with "Innibit".

(to prevent users to use them ....)

Exactly ! Or an attribute like "clicable" or "not clicable" so we see the turnout but we can't clic it !

this is a panel for a staging :
Capture2.JPG
The track at the top and the one at the bottom are the main line.
When we play in "free run" there is no pb every thing works fine. Every one can turn the switches as they want.

This is the panel for the dispatcher, we call it CTC. It represent the main line only for all the layout :

When we play "real operations" users must call the CTC to get the clearence to enter on the main line. So I would like a way to prevent users to be able to use some turnouts. And the best way would be a button on the CTC panel to allow or not some turnout to be clicable.
Keep in mind that the CTC is in a place, and the panels are around the layout. The table borders are about 120 m long !

Am I clear ?

Christophe.

Hi Christophe,

I will add the lock command to the switch object:

Code: Select all

<sw id="xy" cmd="lock" locid="mylock"/>
