Fedora 24: Toolbar icons are missing

Post by Cybertinus » 01.10.2016, 10:15

Hello everybody,

I'm missing the icons in the menubar in Rocview. See the attached screenshot to see what I mean. I'm running Rocrail 11374 on Fedora 24 x64. What could be causing this? What am I missing on disk and how do I get that back? :) Or what did I misconfigure in Rocrail to cause this?

Hi,

try Ubuntu or Debian or Mint.
I'm not familiar with Fedora. (RedHat?)

Hi,

Normally if you have problems you have to include your relevant data.

You can use:

Hi Cybertinus,

I builded and tested under Fedora 24 and I have the same effect: No icons.
Maybe Lothar has an idea whats is wrong...

I can't help here.

Hi,

in my virtual machine with Fedora 24 I have the same problem. Seems to be an issue with the wxGTK3-libraries and the display of the icons in rocview. The icons are "invisible". If you position the mouse pointer over an "invisible icon" the tooltip is visible :?
Unfortunately compiling rocview against wxGTK2.8 (for testing purposes) does not work in my Fedora 24 environment.

Regards,
Lothar

Hello Lothar,

OK, so this looks like an actual issue with Rocrail on Fedora 24 and not like something that is wrong with my install. Good to know I didn't make a stupid mistake :).

What can I do to help getting this working in Fedora 24? What do you want to know? Or what tests should I run?

I don't want to switch to another OS for Rocrail, because I run it on my laptop and my laptop runs Fedora. I like Linux on my laptop and I like Fedora the most of al the distro's out there. It also matches with the servers I maintain, which all run CentOS 6 or 7, so everything looks and works the same for me.

Attached you find the zip file I created with the "Issue" feature in the Help menu. I hope you find something useful in it. Errors that Rocrail can't connect to my ECoS can be ignored, because my ECoS wasn't connected to my laptop when I started Rocrail to make this zipfile ;).

Hi,

if you stick with Fedora 24 then you have to live without toolbar icons because there is nothing I can do.
Fedora 23 did show the icons, so something went wrong in 24.

Maybe its better if you open an issue in the Fedora forum.
