[Solved] Manual Speed control from IB2 not possible

Postby Otto15 » 23.05.2013, 20:32

Hello all.

I am very new in the rocrail world but already very fascinated about the huge functionality.
First of all a big thank you to all forum members for the great work - was one of the main reasons, why I decided to use rocrail ...

Knowing that I am a greenhorn here I hope I do not post to stupid questions ... :

I am using a IB2 and have currently only a track occupancy loconet module connected to understand the rocrail functions step by step.

When I started with build 5235 I soon recognised the problem that on startup the occupancy was not automatically sent to rocrail. But with the update on 5243 exactly this problem was solved (lucky me :-) ).

But now I have another problem that I did not have with the earlier build:
I cannot use the speed control dials on the IB2 as long as rocrail is running. The loco shortly responds but then the speed is automatically going back to the value before. Interestingly in Rocrail the new speed from the manual input on IB2 is displayed but does not change on the acutal track. Using the virtual controler in rocrail does still work properly.

Does anyone have an idea what I made wrong - I cannot remember making any changes to the settings after the update, but I am sure it is only a simple beginner's mistake ...

Thanks a lot for your efforts to help a beginner ... :-)

PS: I tried to add the .trc file but it does not work (?) The other files worked ok. (ini and plan)

Good Morning rjversluis and thanks for the instant feedback.

I have done the initial setup using USB, the loconet protocol and ULNI as described in the Intellibox 2 section of the rocrail wiki. There I cannot find this option (overrule throttle) or a comparable one.
The link you posted seems to refer to Serial port connections only, which the IB 2 does no longer support, or will the p50x protocol then also work with USB and loconet? In the description it refers again to the Intellibox 2 section.

Thanks again
Otto

Hi Otto,

you are right; The link was for the p50x protocol.
The USB IB only talks Loconet.

You should provide a trace file in which your problem is documented.
Best Regards, Rob.

Hello I am back :-)

Sorry it took so long - but now attached the two .trc files (rocview and rocrail).
I have done the following:
Switched on the system with the pc connected.
Started Rocrail.
Set the speed of the loco to around 50.
Then I three times tried to manually increase the speed on the IB2 but it came down to the initial value immediately.
In Rocview the speed of the loco also changes in the window for the virtual controller but the loco stays at around 50 ...
Then I switched the global power off ...

It would be so great if you could find something in those trc files ...

Thanks and regards
Otto

Hi Otto,

all throttle commands in the trace are coming from the IB and not from Rocrail.
Code: Select all
lc=BR212-1 V_raw=67 V=53 fn=0 dir=Forwards throttleID=0

Do you have set this option?

Hello Rob,

this is interesting, as I did start the loco using the virtual controller in Rocview.

The Option Allow Zero Throttle ID is activated.

What I just did, was to start the loco with the IB and then started rocrail.
As soon as the server was started, the loco did stop.
After that I could not control the loco from the IB but only from Rocview (as before).

What I will try is to install an old build again - as it did work fine before I updated.

Any idea what else I could try ...?

Thanks so much for your time :-).

Best regards
Otto

Hi Otto,

in 5329 I added two extra traces; Can you do the same test with this revision and post the trace again?
Best Regards, Rob.

Hello Rob,

unfortunately I cannot yet find the 5329 build on the download site.

But as soon as it is available I will try the same and post the trace file again.

Thanks and regards

Hello Rob.

Problem solved ...

Under Lokomotive / Schnittstelle / V_Modus I had the box "Info abfragen" ticked. As soon as I unticked the box and saved it, the loco is now accepting the speed from the IB 2 again and also the correct speed is displayed in Rocview again ...

Thanks a lot again for all your effort ...

Regards
Otto
