rocWeb Revised

Post by rjversluis » 07.07.2010, 16:47

The ancient rocWeb will be revised to get the look & feel of RocJ.

New techniques like XmlHttpRequest will be used to refresh objects in the background instead of refreshing the whole page.

It seems that nothing is impossible with JavaScript and Style Sheets, so this opens many possibilities like context menus for block objects.

The Loco throttle functionality will be removed in the form as it is now.

Because the Apple browser, Safari, also supports those new techniques it is **the** solution for those who are longing for or already have an iPad.

Hello Rob,

That 's great to hear. If you could develop a web based solution similar what you have already done on other platforms, it would make things much easier with different platforms and os.

I look forward to to see your results.

Best regards

Helge

Hi Lars,

why not using RocJ? This is also OS independent. And can be started with Java Web Start.

It is all very clear and not confusing:

Rocview -> Windows, Mac OSX, Linux
RocJ -> Java
iRoc -> iPhone/iPod
andRoc -> Android

If you still say that you need a browser solution than you must specify your target platform.

It´is nothing about a special platform.

It is about use rocrail client without any instaliton about an http server.
So anyboady with a WiFi handy can log in and drive without any connection to pc

The new rocWeb will use XmlHttpRequests, and will not feature a throttle.
What about the existing rocWeb?

If your visitors have a Android or iPhone based phone they can just download it from the app store.

A browser based solution for such small devices is IMHO useless.

The actual Rocweb doesn`t work very well.

The speed control switch only between zero and 80 %

But all in all this is all I need.
I prefer doesn´t have so much apps on my mobil phone.

Thank you for your time

Lars

p.s with confusing I mean my discription ;)

You gave me a good reason not to start with rocWeb revised.
What you are trying to explain is really idealistic rubbish.

Use the App for the Phone, it is designed for it.
If you do not have an Android or iPhone: Buy one.
If you do not like to install Apps on your phone: Sell it.

In all other cases: Code it.

Yeah maybe your right, but you also said in the documentation that it is only a second alternative.
And my main problem is that I have one phone, we wante to use it on all phones there interstet in our train. So I simply give them the Ip and the port.

Still to say it would be that I find the function scope of rorail is awesome
and I like iRoc and Androc very much.
