Rocweb V2 Preview testing

All about the Rocrail WEB solution.

Hi Rob,

you asked me for Rocrail exceptions in the trace window of Rocview but interestingly enough, I could not reproduce this error again  I don't know... Perhaps it's time for the evening meal.
Anyway, will give 9221 a try prior to food intake :)

Four Windows builds today

Hi Rob,

9221 looks OK at first glance :D.
I stop testing for today. Tomorrow I will repeat one of today's experiments again: Rocweb on multiple devices connected to the same server at the same time using the same or different browsers. Today's result was a bit suprising to me...

Kind regards
Bernd

Hi,
Feedback on 9221.

Had a two hour running session with auto and manual locs.

The good news - no crashes.
The less good news - still some websocket errors. (Both Opera and FF on android). Recovery is simple - restart the browser, in Android this requires going into the system app management and forcing the restart. You are probably fed up with looking at traces, so wont attach.

So some progress, but in my environment anyway, it is not stable enough to allow anyone to operate (using rocweb) on the layout yet.

I may still try the W7 PC tomorrow, just to (hopefully) rule out the XP thing.

normally a refresh of the page should be sufficient.
Also I can increase the number of retries in Rocweb to establish a connection.

Rob,

The error popup cannot be removed, it keeps popping up forever, so there is no way to refresh the page or do anything other than close the browser.

In 9223 I removed the alert popups and increase the retry count from 10 to 50.
After 50 retries an alert popup will come. In all other cases its written in the javascript/webconsole.

Hi,

I had a good running session this morning, 2+ hours, no crashes and only one websocket that I was able to clear by refreshing/starting the page.
All on 9221 and with FF as browser (Just updated).
Extra note:
I froze the clock for this session and load was at 10% or less. I am checking CPU load all the time now.

I am going to start a separate issue thread on the fast clock-CPU load, I think that cpu load certainly increases the possibility of the websockets, also since the session this morning was mostly with only 1 or 2 background auto locs. If more locs or fastclock running then more websockets (I think!).

A good session, some minor issues with updating rocweb, that sometimes lags, but eventually catches up.

Need a :coffee:

Hi Rob.

Using Win8.1 and FF 38+ version 9228, forced a reboot of my machine.
Have an error screen but I could not capture it as the screen froze.

<fatal>Rocweb:

Give up after 50 retries </fatal>

FF is the worst of all on a PC.
This one causes a race condition.

Opcode 0x03 is reserved and should not be used: Check W3C.
The FF is very buggy when it comes to websockets, even worser then Chrome.
FF opens so many websockets that you run out of memory.

I will revert the 50 retries; Safari needs only one try.

Hello all,

Because I've just played a little with Rocrail and the Raspberry, I've tested also the Rocweb on Raspberry & Konqueror on OpenSuse (13.1).
Unfortunately in the moment I can't do much on my layout (only one active loc, no turnouts, no sensors, no automode), but just for controlling a train Raspberry Pi, Rocweb & Konqueror seems to be a good combination.
I suppose my test is quite irrelevant, but costs my little to post it. :)

Regards,
Liviu

Hi Rob,

Have you tried support? The authors might know a trick or two.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/new/desktop

I have looked but besides the word websockets, I don't know what i am talking about.

Hi Rob,

With Win8.1 and Chrome this version (9228) is stable (sofar), FF is still abending.

A small thing that I noted. Text does not appear the same: Rocweb places sit next to each other, while Rocview allows it below. Does not impact me one bit, but I did not have the room in Rocview, therefore I placed it below.
