Hi,

i just installed a brandnew rocnetnode after I destroyed the old Pi with an overvoltage.

SD card is ready, I just upgraded to 8744. reconfigured host name to
"raspberry1"


i2cdetect output delivers:

don't know if the error is fixed but some better results:

Ok I used the second pi B+.
Did the configuration I found in the wiki.

LED1 blinks. I can also command it "find" through RocView. But I don't see any Pi02. There should be 4...

To enable the I2c bus on the Pi B+

add to /boot/config.txt

dtparam=i2c_arm=on
dtparam=i2c_vc=on
device_tree_param=i2c0=on
device_tree_param=i2c=on

add
bcm2708.vc_i2c_override=1 to /boot/cmdline.txt

add to /etc/modules

i2c-bcm2708
i2c-dev


run rpi-update

I have withheld it from the wiki as it will change soon.

I forgot to mention that one needs to run raspi-config and enable i2c there too.

Generally speaking, if i2cdetect finds the bus and no devices are found despite them connected to the I2C bus, recheck the connections.

Hi tom, hi richard

I finally solved it.

There were two main issues:
-one pi02 was damaged. I think the i2c chip is dead because of short circuit. The same short circuit that burned my first raspberry

-with the pr9vided wjwheezy rocnet image the raspberry didn't work with i2c. Got this "UU" erro, see above.

I could fix it in two ways: manual editing of blacklist and so on...
or: doing the following
Sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
Sudo rasp-config

In config, enable i2c. Then it worked.

richard, I also found your statements in the raspbery forum aabout i2c. this also helped.

I used two pi b+
Both showed same error.
The rasp-config had no entry for i2c config.

date of Your OS?
The state of the art OS is Raspian Feb 16th 2015.
raspi-config
TOP 8 "Advanced Options"
TOP A7 "I2C"

Here is the option to enable / disable the I2C.

OK, but this image has been tested with I2C and worked like a charm.
Images do not come with any guaranty if they are upgraded.

My #1 rule when dealing with the Rpi2 is to download the latest image from the Official RPI site. Until a newer image than 02-2015 is available, updating the firmware is also mandatory.

The transition to overlays for device management is not 100% complete so there are a few extra steps involved when enabling the I2c buses.
