Hi Bernd,

you are still disregarding the permission issues. (Crystal bowl) And the two direction issue too.
Just force the signals to green with actions, but I will not implement the open crystal bowl block proposal.
Signals stay red until its clear who comes in.

Hi Rob,
you are still disregarding the permission issues.
There is none. Just look at the next block, that's all.
It was already mentioned, that an "open block" cannot be used on a track with both directions. I don't know how to explain it in more or better detail. So I give up... and stay with my actions ;)

OK one more try based on the title of this whole story: "Green signal in currently free block A when following block B is clear".
Block A is free, block B is clear, so setting signal A to green is not a problem at all. Whose permissions of what to be regarded? There's no one there, not here in A not in the next block B ;)

Best regards
Besra

We are going thru the same circular dicussion we have had a year or so ago.

We know what we need if we want an open block and can do this using actions. It may be too much effort and change too many things in RR to continu this discussion. Iam ok with actions, just needs a bit more effort and maintenance. I am leaving this topic.

Thanks,

Robert

In that case I can strip all permission settings in the blocks and routes.
If there are no longer any permission settings I can implement the open block.

Sorry, but you cannot convince me of open block.
I will check before I border in a train if there are open blocks in its route to my destination. If so I would not border.

There is a good Wikipedia article regarding the "open block" as we named it in this topic: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streckenb ... eckenblock (in German).
This is reality. On main tracks. Without branches. Outside of stations. In single direction traffic...

Bernd

Thanks Besra. You have explained exactly what I have been trying to achieve.

Wow I thought I was asking a simple question that I somehow did not understand how to set up.

"Actions" is not something I have attempted and I'm not sure I want to even try. I guess I continue buying red bulbs since the green or yellow ones will never burn out! :D

Hi Rob,
OK, I will give it a try.
Cool, thanks.

But before you start: Maybe the name "open block" itself is somewhat misleading or lead you to the conclusion the block should be "open" for each and everything disregarding all permissions and so on. But this is not the case!
We are talking about the signal only. This should default to green instead of red. Nothing further. And please remember, a signal in Rocrail does not have any function besides showing some colour. Setting it to green by hand or by action or by whatever does not mean any train is allowed to move. All permissions etc. thus stay valid.

Best regards
Bernd

Hi,

my test plan:
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Rob,

For 3 aspect sigbals the wiki description is not quite complete.
For green, next block is free and signal is green OR yellow.

Rob,
I refer to the first line in the wiki link.

Three aspect signals have a yellow. This needs to be included.

As a train passss thru the signal goes from red to yellow to green.

CURRENT block signal is green if next block is free and signal is NOT red, eg either yellow or green.

See my example figs. Previous.

Sorry, it is in Dutch but IMHO this is what is meant in the discussion. I don't need it.
