Another topic, a new thread with LocoNet and RailCom Plus.
As discussed in another topic we would like talk about possibility to fill Locomotive list in Rocrail automatically using Railcom...like ecos.
Some problem:
- Raillcom Plus feature are for me unknown
- Need to custom loconet OPC to send locomotive information over Loconet

Hi,

you can use the OPC_IMM_PACKET which is variable in length.
Is RailCom Plus documented and royalty free?

Hi Rob,

OPC_IMM_PACKET may be used to sent DCC request from command station to mobile decoder...already used form POM accessory write. But problem is sending information from Raillcom detector to Lconet best option may be use OPC_PEER_XFER with custom payload.

If I remember correctly, there was quite a spat between Lenz and Zimo about Railcom Plus as Lenz did not want to release their protocol into the public domain, hoping that Rc+ would be enough of an attraction to sell licences to other manufacturers. Something the NMRA won't allow to become a standard I believe. I have forgotten what advantages, if any, Rc+ has over standard Railcom. Measuring how much electric coal the plastic fireman/chauffeur needs to throw into the LED lit firebox?

RailCom is part of the NMRA-DCC standard today and is available to download from NMRA's website as a PDF, so it should be RailCom plus guys who didn't want to publish their standard public.

S-9.3.2 DCC Basic Decoder Transmission - (updated 12/20/2012) UNDER REVISION

All this is as I understand it...
