Mac OSx - different Files location

Post by trevleyb » 12.07.2019, 20:54

Hi all, I run Mac OSX and want to be able to store my RocRail files in a different location than the default. Is there a way to run RocRail on a Mac with command line parameters from the standard install? I had a look in the package and instructions and its not clear unless if missed it how to run RocView and RocRail(server) separately or with command line parameters without rebuilding the app package on the Mac. Maybe the answer is to replace the run.sh script inside the app contents. Has anyone else done this?

Thanks
Trevor

Hi Trevor,
maybe this will help or at least will give you ideas for solving your request:

In addition you may find command line options here: https://wiki.rocrail.net/doku.php?id=rocgui-config-en

Hi Trevor,

Rocrail is conform the macOS which expect applications in an *.app container.
Mangling in this container is not supported in this forum.

Hi Trevor,

I don't know anything about MacOS

By Win32/Win64 the standard is to load the program in this location (see picture).
However I simply change that to C:\Rocrail

Hi Tom,

on macOS you install an App, which is a container like a ZIP.
Maybe some screen shots will enlighten you.

A double click on the Rocrail.app will execute the RUN script.

Hi Trevor,
the RocRAILProgram itself must be stored on your Mac in an AppFolder.
All my user files like myplan.xml, loco images, svg-themes etc.. are stored in the Apple-iCloud.
You can change this locations in the RocVIEW preferences. Look in the Wiki how working with workspaces.
Is is that what you want?

have a good day

the location of the Rocrail user files are Workspace dependent, and cannot be changed in the Rocview preferences.
SVG Themes can be changed in the Rocview preferences.
